On January 29, 2005, the Shakespeare Monologue Competition for homeschoolers attracted several participants who performed outstanding monologues. This competition is the first step, with the winner going to the regional competition in downtown Philadelphia, that winner going to the national trials in New York, and the national winner receiving a trip to Great Britain. The contest is sponsored by the ESUUS (English Speaking Union, United States) (official 2005 contest web page.)
The contest is for 10-12th graders, but to encourage future talent we began
with a non-judged recital hour of Shakespeare monologues for 6-9th
graders.

The 10-12th graders were judged by three outstanding lovers of Shakespeare:
Dr. Nielson, Mrs. Nielson, and Mrs. Skinner.
