Styer Family History
My brother has family info
which I copy here:
"Here is a list of my ancestors as far back as we can trace it:
- John Nicholas Steiger (married Anna Catherine)
- John Stephen Steiger (married Gertrude Steger), born Aug 12, 1688, died
1736. He and his wife were the first to come to America, somewhere around
1710.
- Jacob Steger (married Christiana Spare), born Sept 23, 1719, died March
13, 1777.
- Leonard Steger (married Mary Tyson), born May 24, 1768
- Cornelius Tyson Styer (married Rosanna Fairchild), born Sept 18, 1807,
died March 20, 1872
- Cyrus Fairchild Styer (married Harriet Brugler), born Feb 25, 1843, died
1920. He served in the military for six weeks of the Civil War as part of
Company A, 13 Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia, to help repel the invasion of
Pennsylvania by the Confederates in 1863, and took part of Antietam.
Harriet Brugler was the granddaughter of Peter Brugler who was a soldier in
the Revolutionary War.
- Charles Cornelius Styer (married Emily Crossley), born Dec 16, 1888, died
Oct 9, 1964.
- Howard F. Styer
- me!
Note: My records are not consistent on if the 'Steiger' or 'Steger' was used
for the early ancestors."
He also has a family photo from our 50th family reunion in 1998:

Many of our relatives are buried in the Columbia Cemetery in West Hemlock
Township, Columbia Hill Road, near Danville, PA.
