Here is a story Andy wrote on the topic of describing a field trip.
A Picnic Field Trip to Mars
I will tell you about a picnic field trip to Mars. It was up to me to organize it. I had planed to ride on a space express ship but then the only one on that day’s flight was canceled because the rocket broke down and the mechanic said it wouldn’t be repaired in time. So I had to get tickets to a third class small smelly rocket jet. I invited all my friends. It took me all the day to get the food.
On the way there the ship got attacked from Zerks (bandits) and the pilot said that the ship had enough power to destroy one ship and run away. After we were safely away, suddenly a meteorite appeared out of nowhere and hurdled toward the ship! But the pilot turned hard and the asteroid missed by inches. My friends said it was to exciting for anything to happen any more but they where wrong the pilot suddenly said that the engines had died so we were going to crash land luckily for us the pilot had enough parachutes for everyone.
After landing the pilot said we should be careful because we were in enemy territory.
So we were as quiet as we could be because we wanted to live to see the picnic so we were as silent as we could but suddenly a Martian burst out of the bushes. I had a basket with a bowl of pudding and a pie I threw the basket at him to nock him over and it had one of the flaps that open and the flap opened. The pie hit him square in the face and the pudding landed on his head and dripped all over him. Lucky it did because his hand dropped the horn he had and instead uttered a screech of rage and a dinosaur came over the hill we though we were goners when we fell in a hole. We though we were lucky until we saw that this was a little camp for Martians a second later we heard a voice shout and we ran out the entrance. We ran faster then ever the dinosaur was gone and finally got to a rocky hill where we hid behind the rocks and the Martians didn’t see us. After a long break we got to one of the cities that wasn’t inhabited by aliens and had our picnic.

Here is a photo of ceramic figurines Amy made in her clay class; they are supposed to be me with a book "Math is Fun", Peggy with a ruler talking on a telephone, and Melanie with her flute.
