Radnor High School Boys' Soccer, Fall 2007

Here are some pictures from the soccer season 2007. Click on any thumbnail to enlarge.

Radnor versus Council Rock South at the Henderson Tournament: Radnor starts out strong, leading 2-0 and even earns a PK to go up 3-0, though misses the chance. Encouraged, Council Rock evens the game. After a scoreless overtime, the PK shoot-out is all Radnor, with Andrew Monaghan making a beautiful save.

Max Camp clears a high cross with a strong header

Tommy Puckette shows how to take a six

Brooks Bentz staying ahead of the Council Rock forward

this free kick by Puckette leads to ...

this goal by Louis Sanet. 2-0 Radnor!

Peter gets everyone turned around

Zack Moren shows some serious speed and agility

that needs a funny caption. Any suggestions?

nice foot work by Matt Cherry

Taylor Sims leaves his defender in the dust

Cherry creates a great chance for Radnor

Peter in a tough one-on-one

Garrett Fitzgerald and Sims communicating

Peter rising high for a header, which leads to a header by Cherry, which leads to . . .

this nice save by the Council Rock goalie

but this is the save of the day: Andrew Monaghan turning away a PK in the shoot-out, that gets Radnor to the final

Radnor at Archbishop Carroll (J-Varsity): the junior varsity continues its stellar play and unbeaten season by man-handling Carroll 5 - 0.

Pressure by Robbie Sacks, Sharif Hamid and Carlos Pelaez, enables this goal by Matt Rosen.

Jordan Berstein shows with exemplary form how to push a ball upfield

Radnor at Archbishop Carroll (Varsity): Radnor falls behind 0-1, before rallying for a 3-1 win.

Rob Sitoski winds up for a shot to the near post that finds the net: 2-1 Radnor

Jerome Vivino is a tireless defender

Vivino outjumps everyone

Kyle Kopp keeps his house clean in front three Carroll strikers

Ouch! Charles Smith sacrifices his body for the good of the team

Zack Moren plays well in the first game against his former team

Kopp seems lonely

Radnor versus Upper Darby: The way Upper Darby was playing, they should give Downingtown West and Lower Merion quite a run for the district crown. Radnor loses 0-3

Radnor at Ridley: A slippery affair on a wet astro-turf.

after a score-less half, coach Keith watches warily

Coach Kyle ain't too pleased either

Finally. Taylor Sims scores his first goal of the season on this textbook shot. 1-0 Radnor

But it's not long before Ridley scores on this unstoppable header. 1-1

The race is on. Louis Sanet gives chase

Peter keeps the ball close to the foot

Yes! Chace Wasco with a brilliant free kick scores the go-ahead goal. 2-1 Radnor

And just a bit later, defender Marshall Steele is at the right spot at the right time to boot this lose ball home. 3-1

Harry Lawrence, Peter and Marshall celebrating

Garrett vies for the ball

Senior David Cho with a great chance that is nixed by the very good Ridley goalie

another good shot by Louis Sanet is brilliantly saved by the Ridley goalie

Zack Moren's throw-ins are already legendary. Every bit as dangerous as corner-kicks

Louis Sanet with an all-around excellent effort. Radnor dominates the game at this point

3-1. Phew.

Radnor at Downingtown West. A tough game against a superb, nationally-ranked, opponent, but a respectable result: 0-2. The highlight of the game is a brilliant save of Andrew Monaghan on a point-blank shot late in the contest.
Thanks to our friend Jason Wilber from Downingtown West, who took these pictures.
(a note added later: Downingtown West made it all the way to the AAA-State Finals, where it lost in overtime to Peters Township)

Two pictures of junior defender Andrew Miller

Andrew had an excellent game.

Tommy Puckette is simply the rock. imo the best player on the team

A thoughtful Chace Wasco

thank goodness for cleats

there is always room for another picture of my favorite player

Garrett putting his best foot forward

Joe Gangl

the ref looks like a spy

i know this is a Downingtown player, but i needed another color besides all the red

George Bennie seeing action in his first game for Radnor

probably Radnor's best chance for a goal: Charles Smith heads a sharp corner from Tommy Puckette wide of the goal

Radnor at Marple Newtown. Though not a highly ranked team, Marple-Newtown played a heads-up game and almost pulled an upset - leading 2-1 with 4 minutes to play. (I must say that the second goal of MN was pretty upsetting to this Radnor parent after a terrible call by the referee. But give MN credit: they made a quick restart that took in entire Radnor defense by surprise). Anyway, Garrett Fitzgerald tied the game in the nick of time, and Peter scored the golden goal on a header after a beautiful serve by Matt Cherry in overtime. I have only a few pictures:

Andrew Miller

Rob Sitoski follows a through pass

holy cow. The MN defender is doing a Jet Li move on Sitoski

Peter is going up for a header

celebration after the golden goal. (thanks to Bob Bentz for the picture.)

Radnor vs Sun Valley. A high light of the season was this impressive win: 6-0. The best part was that 6 different seniors scored!

Bentz, Puckette and Smith in a new tango called: "where is the ball"?

Max Camp

Garrett Fitzgerald

Connor Osborne very nearly scores here, but Sun Valley's goalie makes a fine save.

Brooks Bentz

Kyle Kopp and the defense are ready for a high ball

Brad Wiseman after having scored the first goal on a determined shot from the edge of the box. 1-0 Radnor.
