my grandmother's maternal grandparents: Wilhelm Franz (1838-1912) und Lina (Staender) (1844-1911) Wiederholt. They owned a brewery, which brought them some wealth.
I love his look. In those days they sure did not smile at the camera. . . |

This is the brewery in Noerten near Goettingen. It was a community brewery until Wilhelm's father Carl Wiederholt (1814-1864) bought it in 1850 and greatly expanded it. |

Wilhelm had 12 children. One of them is my great-grandmother Regina (Wiederholt) Hourand (1876-1960). Here she holds her first-born: Lina (1903-1983). The picture must date from 1903. |

In 1901, Regina had married her second cousin Adolf Hourand, (1874-1949), here seen as a young man in 1896. Adolf had been orphaned by the age of 14, but became quite successful as a coffee merchant. |

Another picture from 1916: the Hourands visit Noerten. Adolf is seated, third from the right, smoking a cigar. To his left, Regina. Behind him his eldest daughter Lina. I also recognize Lina's siblings.
Unfortunately I do not know any of the other people. |
